Hi. I’m Mia—Copy Editor, Ghostwriter, and above all else, a walker.
I’m a walker of sidewalks, grassy trails, foreign streets, bargain store aisles, and above all, the Way of Jesus.
When I’m not walking my usual route through my little corner of downtown Chattanooga, my favorite places to exist are in the kitchen cooking up a mystery dish, on a seat by flowing water with poetry journal in hand, or in an empty parking lot practicing new swing dance moves with my husband.
I find that the steady rhythm of walking paired with hands-on creative outlets exercise my brain to slow down and notice—the things around me for greater depth while writing, and the things on paper to polish and perfect a piece of art.

Her Specialties
“I enjoy fine-tuning projects so that each word, comma, and concept is intentionally placed, creating clarity and flow for the client’s vision. My favorite genres to edit are devotional writing and narrative nonfiction, but I love trying new things and am always up for a challenge!”
As copy editor and proofreader, I edit grammar, punctuation, and syntax so the author’s voice remains coherent, while ensuring the appropriate style is maintained throughout. My experience ranges from writing poetry and creative nonfiction to editing and ghostwriting, with five years’ experience in this field.
Her Recent Projects & Experience
My most recent completed project involved developmental editing for a forthcoming devotional book. The original manuscript, produced via eye-gaze technology due to the author’s ALS diagnosis, required delicate and precise care to honor the author’s voice and legacy while ensuring clarity, consistency, and theological integrity. I also drafted and refined the title and subtitle, and designed the cover art along with additional promotional material for the project.
Aside from this project, I have recent experience with curating blog posts documenting a client’s cancer journey through spiritual and physical healing. I also had the opportunity to serve a local nonprofit through donor, volunteer, and intern engagement, strategic communications, and successful grant writing and funding. Hospitality, teaching, training, and customer research also help fill my resumé.
Her Education & Training
My Bachelor’s Degree in Creative Writing is from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, with a minor in Spanish and a study abroad experience in Alcalá de Henares, Spain.
As part of my time in nonprofit marketing and fundraising work, I completed courses and workshops including Stories Marketing webinars, Mission Increase workshops, and a grant writing course through Zierke Consulting Group. That experience in the nonprofit realm helped hone my skills in writing and editing, even if indirectly.
Prior to joining the MRM team, I also attended Refined Conference—building connections, participating in discussion, and taking plenty of notes of all I gleaned while there!
Some of Her mentors
My most influential mentor is Tammy Lea Fabian, owner of Time in the Desert LLC and Date Palm Consulting LLC, a boutique writing and publication company under whose guidance I have grown significantly as both a writer and editor.
Though more of a reader than a scroller—and known to keep the 18th Edition Chicago Manual of Style as a regular morning coffee date—I also enjoy learning from blogs by Nicole Gulotta, newsletters by Poets & Writers, and The Creative Penn Podcast.
