MRM Project Feature: Karmen Smith Brand and Website Redesign

Karmen Smith is a faith-driven author, podcast host, and speaker whose mission is to encourage others to embrace hope and perseverance. Through her blog posts, Facebook lives, and podcast episodes, she shares authentic stories about life and faith in Jesus, aiming to encourage others to persevere in challenging situations and to inspire them to “Pray Big” because of God’s faithfulness.

Told in her sweet southern drawl and wrapped in real-life stories from her farm, Karmen offers practical wisdom and a heartfelt perspective on life’s challenges, all rooted in her strong faith in Jesus. Her core message revolves around showing up—both in the joys and trials of life—and trusting God’s faithfulness every step of the way.

About This Recent Project

Brand Design

Last year, we helped Karmen with a brand kit for her new podcast “Keep Showin’ Up”. That recent design work with Karmen gave us an easy jumping-off point for her personal brand design this time around. We were able to incorporate the same fonts and a modified color palette to serve as the perfect complement to the podcast branding.

Karmen requested that we add the fun detail of a barn to the primary logo, since farm life is such a huge part of her daily life. Our associate designer, Erin, provided two different sketched or illustrative barn options for Karmen to choose from, focusing on the more predominant colors from the brand kit. With just a couple tweaks, Karmen quickly settled on the option that spoke to her most, and we completed the brand kit with two sub marks and coordinating social media cover images.

Website Design and Development

Karmen’s recent beautiful photographs from her farm served as the inspiration for her new site design. The gorgeous shots perfectly showcase Karmen’s warm personality and inviting smile alongside simple glimpses into her everyday life. It was fun to add refreshed words and these new photos to each page of the site.

Jenifer worked with Karmen to update and refine the wording for the key pages of the website, ensuring readability and intentionally placed calls to action. From there, Erin created the amazing visuals for each page, blending bold and muted colors with Karmen’s new photos. The end result is a beautifully welcoming design and a new website that, together, create the online hub Karmen needed, for her speaking, blog posts, new podcast episodes, and encouraging products.

Once the new design was complete, Mandy worked with Karmen and her assistant to merge her old eCommerce store and the Square point of sale used for her ministry events so all of her Pray Big and Keep Showin’ Up products are now available in the new site. Using WooCommerce allows the Square point of sale and the online store to work in tandem, making inventory and sale management for Karmen simple and cohesive.

One of Karmen’s most favorite things is her weekly Facebook lives, so Jenifer also helped Karmen repurpose that great content by adding the videos and summaries to the new site’s blog. We love helping clients find creative ways to expand where and how they’re showin’ up for their audience!

From the addition of the new podcast page and updated store to the new, vibrant design, we hope Karmen’s new website will serve her, and her ministry, well for years to come!

What Karmen had to say…
