Meet MRM: Saige Jackson – Copy Editor & Proofreader

Hi, I’m Saige—Proofreader & Editor and a poet at heart!

I am constantly caught sitting in the small things—on the porch, in the rain, at the table. I love to observe, to be still the way the Lord commanded, and I think that stillness is where life holds most of its beauty. Poetry has always been my way of capturing and cherishing the lovely little moments that might otherwise pass me by.

I’ve been in the writing and editing world for about five years now. I studied creative writing all four years of my undergrad at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and during that time I interned with SoLit, a local literary nonprofit, where I helped manage the marketing side of things. I’ve just started my MFA in poetry at the University of North Carolina Wilmington—a program that’s unique in that it comes with an incredible publishing lab and offers a publishing certificate alongside the degree.

Her Specialties

My focus at MRM will primarily be proofreading—reviewing manuscripts and working closely with our editors to make sure everything is clean and polished before it moves forward. I’ll also help with copyediting, content and copywriting, and support with book mapping and character development for fiction and creative writing projects.

Editing is genuinely my favorite kind of work; there’s something so wonderful about helping bring a piece to its fullest potential. I especially love working with nonfiction and personal testimonies—there’s something about a true story, well told, that I can’t get enough of.

“As a writer and a human and a creation of the Creator, I just want to help keep this conversation going. I want to help beauty spread.”

Her Recent Projects & Experience

Lately, I’ve mostly been writing poems—it’s what I love, and day by day it’s becoming more of what I actually do, in the big sense of the word. I’m continually grateful to be learning and practicing my passion.

Outside of my own creative writing, I served as the poetry editor for The Sequoia Review, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s student-led literary magazine. That role taught me more than almost anything else about what it means to work effectively as a team and how to honor the conversation between author and reader that good writing invites. As editor, I helped choose which submissions to accept.

Her Education & Training

I earned my BFA in English—Creative Writing from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC). I’m now pursuing my MFA in poetry at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, a program that pairs the degree with a hands-on publishing lab and offers a publishing certificate alongside it.

Some of Her mentors

I learn from C.S. Lewis regularly, especially from a theological standpoint—he’s one of my biggest mentors. I also think Joan Didion is brilliant.

Fun Facts

  1. I don’t like ketchup on my french fries unless it’s spicy.
  2. Putting sheets back on the bed makes me angrier than most things.
  3. The first song I ever remember listening to was “Burning Love” by Elvis Presley—I made my dad sing the woman’s accompaniment while he drove me to preschool.

claim to fame

I don’t know about fame, but any time my friends spot a well-placed rocking chair, they send me a text that says “thinking of you.” If you can’t find me, chances are you haven’t looked on the front porch.

    Refined Conference 2026: The Recap

In February 2026, we gathered again in beautiful Chattanooga, Tennessee—hearts open, journals ready, and spirits expectant—for two unforgettable days of worship, meaningful connection, and practical Kingdom-led insight at Refined Conference 2026. What started as a gentle nudge in 2021 has grown into what we believe is a movement of Kingdom-minded creatives and leaders committed to refining their vision and pursuing God-given purpose, together.

This year’s theme, “Refine Your Vision. Pursue Your Purpose,” was so much more than a tagline. It became our prayer over every session, conversation, and shared coffee-and-community moment.
